New Virgo Moon

Everything is broken. The world is in shambles. We are a mess.
And if I believed that as the ULTIMATE truth, you would need to get another Astrologer!
“Everything is broken” is definitely a major chapter in the first section of this book of being a human, but it is not the whole book. It is not the whole story. And definitely NOT the conclusion.
But our awareness of what’s wrong must be functional and operable if we are ever to make it right.
The season of Virgo comes as a necessary response to the jubilant season of Leo. In Leo, we celebrate the glory of the ripening sunflowers and tomatoes. We celebrate life. Sometimes that can devolve into egocentric pleasure seeking. At its worst, a child king can rule with impunity and a complete lack of chivalry. Ultimately, we learn through Leo about the joy of being a human. Virgo makes sure that that human can survive through winter! Virgo harvests and preserves the tomato for food and seed. Thanks, Virgo.
So, we celebrate the season of Virgo, the season of the harvest, as that one season of the year dedicated to getting real, getting organized, discriminating between what works and what doesn’t, and making sure everything is in order from wherever we have been, so that wherever we are going can occur effectively.
“We can do it from ARGH or we can do it from AHHH. Either way, we have to do it.” -Ram Das
This is the first of two consecutive New Virgo Moons. In a month we will have a Blue New Moon, giving us TWO lunar cycles to perfect the art of being Virgo; of being a functional, effective, and healthy human.
Here are some easy-to-follow methodologies for maximizing our continued human existence and for reconciling and integrating what darknesses or challenges we have heretofore faced in our lives…
1) Leave the past where it is. We are here now. Deal with what is in front, not behind. Honor the fact that even our greatest tragedies have led us to this moment. In this moment, we are alive. Celebrate! We’ve made it through what we thought we couldn’t! The present is where the power is. Don’t give that power to the past with shame or regret. While it’s understandable, it doesn’t help. We are humans doing the best we can with what we have. Sweep your own steps and at least your own home will be clean.
2) The most powerful thing you can do is exercise your power of right action through moment-to-moment choice. Emotional desires will always arise. We are human. Emotions are necessary. But acting from fear, sorrow, or anger is not always the most effective long-term choice. Choosing actions in accordance with our higher principles and morals, coupled with strategic calculations based on wise observation of the available information, encourages healthier lives. Do your best.
3) Take care of your crap. The piles in the corner of the desk or in the basement need to be dealt with. Have a garage sale or make a donation. Taking care of responsibilities in a timely manner and clearing the clutter, lightens our burdens and provides us with more freedom. That’s going to be important in the coming months. Get stuff taken care of now so it’s not hanging over us when we need to focus on other things. (Cue: Ominous music.)
4) Take care of your body. If that really is an alien ship approaching, and they’re not friendly, we might need to boogie. If they are friendly and we want to go travel the stars, they might ask for the healthiest. That’s only a couple of reasons to increase cardio. I’m sure you could think of some other reasons to take care of your body that I don’t have to make up a little story about.
5) Understand, accept, and integrate the realities of this three-dimensional world. We all have dreams. Many of us want to win the lottery and relax with freedom from the insanity of the world on our own private beach. However, there is no escape. Jim said that no one here gets out alive. Neither alcohol nor streaming video will take us away from the realities of this existence. Turn to face them, deal with them, and it will inevitably feel as good as a sparkly, clean kitchen does once the dishes are done.
With this New Virgo Moon, let’s set an intention for embodying the aforementioned suggestions. In a couple of months, we will look back at this time and either be very grateful for the effort we gave or wish we would have given more. Choose wisely, and all will be well.
New Leo Moon

One of the things they don’t often tell us is that Leo is a season where the Sun is waning. We’re heading back to Winter, folks. Leo is often caricatured as dramatic and flamboyant, expressive and radiant. Leo shines on the stage. Leo sings it barbaric yawlp!
While this may be true, we must understand this in the context of what’s really going on. We must understand this in the context of what’s happening in the growth cycle of nature. It’s Summer’s ‘last hurrah’!
The fruits are ripening. The tomatoes are hanging heavy on the vine. The sunflowers are bathing fields in earth-grown sunlight. But that Sun is waning. The days are still long and bright, but they are getting shorter. We are headed back to Winter. We have limited time in which to shine. Welcome to our New Leo Moon and our need to remember how sacred each moment is.
Here we are, living life in the midst of the dramas of politics, society, economy, and relationship. We get pulled out of the present and into anxiety over the future or sadness regarding the past as if the leaves have already fallen or the garden was never planted. But in Leo season, we are reminded of the importance of fully blossoming into the totality of our being, now…before the days get any shorter.
Let’s set an intention with this New Moon for living our most authentic and joyous life, celebrating the sacred present moment, and remembering that we have the power to radiate our light into the world despite any perceived or impending shadows.
In this moment we have this one breath. We have the power to choose our next step, which lens we wish to look at reality through, and whether we wish to be truly alive. The Sun is going down. There is so much pain, darkness, and shadow in this world. It is our job, each of us, to radiate what light we can into that darkness. Don’t let the darkness squelch your light. Radiate exactly who you must be into the world, and it will be brighter for it.

New Aquarius Moon

Welcome to our New Aquarius Moon. It is not just a New Moon today. Mercury has conjoined Pluto. The North Node of the Moon has moved into Pisces while the South Node has moved into Virgo. The Sun is applying to harmonize with Jupiter. The planet Uranus is at a standstill before it stations direct tomorrow. Everything is changing. Everything is changing rapidly! Can we hold on? Can we help to create those changes? Or are we going to allow things to happen to us?
Fear can be faith returning to us. Courage is underneath fear. Underneath the grief and the sadness is a gratitude for the sacred present moment. Anger is a desire for things to change so behind that anger is the power and motivation to make the necessary changes. We can find our will, discipline, and focus as we acknowledge our anger and transmute it into right action and empowered choice.
Understand that we’re all in this together. We are not alone. The next four or five months, at least, we’ll see incredible changes, rapid technological advances, and much revelation on the political side of things.
Keeping our vibration in the highest possible place, without suppressing or denying the heavier vibrations, will serve us well.
Let’s do our best to keep remembering this, and practicing it to the best of our ability, and all will be well.

New Sagittarius Moon

While it is sadly not true for all of us, if you are reading this, you have made it through the season of death. Scorpio, the second to last season, brings us into confrontation with our mortality. We begin to digest emotionally our experiences of the previous year. We feel it all. We have felt at all. And here we are in the season of Sagittarius having escaped death, and we are free. Here is where we must be careful.
So, for this New Moon in Sagittarius, let’s do our best to look back on our year and synthesize what life experience we have had into a wisdom with which to begin anew. Let’s set an intention for acting instead of reacting and working towards the best of all possible outcomes instead of fighting the worst of all possible realities.
When it all comes down to it, there are really only two answers: courage and love; how could we have shown more courage and how could we have shown more love? Ask yourself those questions about this last year and see what you learn. Ask those questions every day moving forward, and all will be well.

New Libra Moon

Any of our ancient shadows and traumas associated with this time of year have arisen in our awareness for healing and clearing. What resources do we have that we can offer for others? What areas are we needing help with? With whatever shadows arise, how can we still do our best to maintain equilibrium amid the impending gathering darkness of Autumn? How can we find peace, within and without?
