Garden Goddess
Fourth Monday of the month at 9:30AM
Donna Smith is a professional horticulturist and fly fisher who has been coming to the Driftless area to fly fish for over 25 years. A recent transplant to the region, she moved here permanently in 2021 from the Chicago suburbs and Madison, WI.
Donna’s grandfather instilled in her a love of plants from a young age, while munching on clover in his backyard. She took her passion to The Morton Arboretum, where she served for more than 20 years caring for a variety of trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. Among her favorites are exotic gingkos, majestic oaks and any prairie plants that play well with others! She recently joined the staff at Deep Rooted Organics and helps run PJ’s Guide Service, her husband’s fly fishing business.
A new DJ on WDRT, Donna brings her love of all things green to the radio. She encourages our listeners to send in their garden questions (email them to gardening@wdrt.org). Donna will respond to your emailed questions on the air. Donna looks forward to creating conversations about plants, the environment, and making our world a little more beautiful one plant at a time.
